Fergus Ghost Walk tours now available

FERGUS – The Fergus Ghost Walk is preparing for its upcoming summer and fall walking tour dates, with tickets available now at $15 per person.

The tours are running Aug. 7 and 13 from 8 to 9:30pm, Sept. 18 from 8 to 9:30pm, and Oct. 2, 16, 29 and 30 from 7:30 to 9pm.

Organizers have worked to make sure the walks around Fergus  comply with public health guidelines. The tours are operating at limited capacity, each having a maximum of 45 people instead of the usual 60.

Ghost walk organizer Debb Greer recommended those interested in attending register as soon as possible, especially for the October tours, as they are booking up quickly. Greer encouraged community participation,  adding that the tours are suitable for children.

She credited the actors who lead the tours: Gary Bryant, Alvin Koop and Joanne Young Evans for making the walks fun. The actors dress up in costume, lead sing-a-longs, and stay in character the whole time.

“(They) make the tours entertaining,” said Greer.

The tours aren’t just comprised of scary stories, but deal with real town history. They start at Templin Gardens and feature tales on the Fergus Library building, Groves hospital, and other Fergus sites.
