Everdale hosts 9th annual Carrot Fest

Everdale honours the mighty carrot at the annual Carrot Fest this Sunday, Sept. 20. Now in its 9th year, this harvest festival has something for everyone to enjoy, including u-pick carrots, tractor rides, harvest games, face-painting, tours, and farm lunch.

Visitors of all ages can meet the farm animals, bake bread and make butter, tour a model eco-home, harvest carrots from Everdale’s fields, and shop at the farm store for fresh, local foods. The Funky Mamas, joined by Richard Maynard Langedijk and Glen Caradus and the Paddling Puppeteers will get the crowds moving with upbeat, kind-friendly performances all afternoon.

Held at Everdale’s Hillsburgh Community Farm, organizers expect this year’s event to draw over 1,000 local families and foodies for a day of farm fun.

Carrot Fest is on Sept. 20 from 12 to 5pm. Admission is free, thanks to sponsorship from Bernard and The Big Carrot. Everdale is located at 5812 6th Line, Hillsburgh.

Founded in 1998, Everdale is a 50-acre organic teaching farm and registered charity. It is a place for people of all ages to experience life on the farm and get to know the people who grow their food. In addition to Carrot Fest, Everdale delivers year-round food and farming educational programming for youth and aspiring farmers.
