Erin’s Earth Day cleanup

Cleanup crew – Erin celebrated Earth Day last Saturday with a cleanup event organized by the Erin Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC) that brought the community together for a day of cleaning and learning about sustainable living. Despite the rain, volunteer Jen Edwards was thrilled with the turnout, commenting that “So many people braved the rain and went out to clean up the town.” Participants were rewarded for their efforts with many prizes from local vendors and a barbecue done by the local Optimists. The afternoon included indoor activities at the Legion including presentations on solar power, geothermal energy, root cellars, micro greens, gardening, and seeds. Attendees were also treated to a performance by the Young at Heart singers and a visit from Mermaid Jacy, who added some extra magic to the event. Edwards expressed gratitude to all the local sponsors, including Sanderson Disposal for providing the waste bin. She also acknowledged ESAC’s hard work, particularly Abel Page, in organizing the event.
