Erin dedicates booster station in memory of Frank Smedley

Town of Erin Mayor Allan Alls officially dedicated the new booster pumping station in Hillsburgh on June 5 in memory of Frank Smedley.

The town’s former water superintendent passed away last year at the age of 49 after a fight against esophageal cancer.

In his dedication, the mayor said Smedley’s hard work and guidance helped the town provide a continuous supply of safe drinking water and laid out the groundwork to enable  the water department to carry on successfully in his absence.

It was also noted at the dedication that Smedley felt the booster station was one of his greatest achievements.

“Frank set the gold standard for outstanding service. He always put his community first,” said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott during the ceremony.

The renamed Frank Smedley booster station officially opened on Aug. 16 last year, just 12 days before Smedley’s passing.

Smedley’s mother Irene and son Mitch joined Arnott,  Alls  and town councillors and staff for a ribbon cutting.
