Erin and Hillsburgh firefighters recognized for support for Muscular Dystrophy Canada
Donation – Since its inception, the partnership between Muscular Dystrophy Canada and over 600 fire departments across the country has raised nearly $100 million and has made a difference in the Canadian neuromuscular community through fundraisers like Fill the Boot and other road tolls. Erin and Hillsburgh firefighters raised $13,653 in 2022, while the total raised locally since 1971 has reached $194,500. The money raised helps purchase wheelchairs and other medical equipment, supports awareness and advocacy efforts, and funds research. Jennifer Williams, VP of philanthropy for Muscular Dystrophy Canada, and director of philanthropy Michelle Hoidas, visited the Erin Station 10 fire hall on Feb. 3 to thank the firefighters and celebrate their donations. Firefighters expressed their gratitude to the local community for its generosity during the annual fundraising campaign. Photo by Tristan Clark
