EmpoWErment Day moving to Guelph”™s Sleeman Centre

Over 5,000 Upper Grand District School Board students will gather for a day of inspiration on May 4. The third annual EmpoWErment Day will bring together world-renowned motivational speakers, presenters and performers are brought together to share powerful messages.

The event began in 2015 as a project of two students from the Drayton Heights Public School Student Council.

They decided to make it an annual event, opening it up to students in Grades 6 to 8 from all over the UGDSB.

Last year, the event moved to the Fergus Sportsplex to accommodate demand.

This year’s event has sold out the Sleeman Centre in Guelph.

The theme of this year’s event is “change your thoughts, change your world,” and presenters include documentary filmmakers Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci, and Mariatu Kamara, author, activist and UNICEF Canada’s special representative for children in armed conflict.
