Emergency Food Security Fund top up benefits six food organizations

CANADA – The federal government is providing $100-million additional dollars to the Emergency Food Security Fund (EFSF) in light of higher demand and fewer resources due to the pandemic.

The EFSF divvies out funds to national and regional organizations which support food banks and more localized food organizations across the county.

The top-up of funding is being divided across Food Banks Canada, Second Harvest, Community Food Centres Canada, Breakfast Club of Canada, Salvation Army and La Tablée des Chefs.

Once local organizations receive funding, they can use it to purchase food and other necessities and distribute it to Candians in need.

The top-up brings total funding for the EFSF to $300 million.
