Elementary teachers suspend all job action

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has reached a tentative agreement with the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) and the provincial government.

Details of the deal reached on Nov. 2 were not released, as the agreement must still be ratified by ETFO members and the OPSBA.

Elementary teachers in the province were engaged in work-to-rule job action, which included withdrawing from all voluntary extracurricular activities, such as coaching Sports teams and supervising clubs.

In light of the tentative deal, ETFO has agreed to suspend all central job action.

In a press conference Monday evening, Education Minister Liz Sandals said fall progress reports will be completed, including comments.

The government has extended the deadline for progress reports until Dec. 11 in order to allow time for them to be completed.
