Draft LTAP report proposes accommodation priorities

The Upper Grand District School Board has released a draft of the Long Term Accommodation Plan (LTAP) Final Report.

The LTAP is a strategic review of the UGDSB’s facilities, population and enrolment projections to ensure that school facilities are aligned with the needs of the board and the communities it serves.

The LTAP does not include recommendations about changes to any school boundaries or programs.

The draft report identifies priorities including:

– Program review and boundary review for the new south Guelph secondary school;

– International Baccalaureate and French immersion impact study in Orangeville/Dufferin and Erin;

– Capital priorities funding request for a new elementary school in north west Fergus; and

– Program review of a Grade 7 to 12 school model.

Proposed long-term (six to 10 years) priorities include:

– Capital priorities funding requests for new elementary schools in Shelburne and Grand Valley; and

– Capital priorities funding for a new elementary school in south Guelph.

Additionally, enrolment information and priorities will be reviewed annually.

Five regional public meetings are scheduled in May (from 7 to 9pm)

– May 2 at Erin Public School in the gymnasium;

– May 3 at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute (Guelph) in the cafeteria;

– May 10 at Orangeville District Secondary School in the cafetorium;

– May 16 at Centre Wellington District High School in the cafetorium; and

– May 17 at Norwell District Secondary School (Palmerston) in the double gymnasium.
