Digital Main Street, LaunchIt hosting technology-focused drop-in events

In-person and online events planned by groups

WELLINGTON NORTH – Digital Main Street, along with LaunchIt, will be hosting free workshops for local businesses beginning Oct. 16.

Digital Main Street helps businesses adapt technology by providing them with tools and resources that are simple to use. Drop-in with your laptop to get free help from the Digital Service Squad.

The first drop-in session is planned for Oct. 16 from 12:30 to 5:30pm and does not require registration. Everyone is welcome at LaunchIt in Harriston, located at 1 Elora St. North.

A second drop-in session will take place Nov. 13 at 1:30pm at the same address.

LaunchIt is a community hub that connects entrepreneurs and business owners with the information, space, and the people they need to explore bold ideas and spark action in their business.

Its goal is to create co-working, community and connection opportunities for rural entrepreneurs and businesses so they can grow a thriving regional economy.

Nelia Ricardo-Wodiany, Digital Service Squad member for Minto, Wellington North and Mapleton, will be hosting an AI technology information session on Nov. 8 at 7pm that will be aimed at boosting business.

Registration for this live, one-hour webinar is required and can be completed at launchitminto.com.

“This is an AI technology webinar, which is huge. AI is taking over online. It’s important for us to get an understanding from a business perspective, of how AI can benefit a business,” Ricardo-Wodiany said.

The Digital Transformation Grant is funding available to any local, small business owners.

“The $2,500 Digital Transformation Grant was created to help small businesses with brick-and-mortar locations, to build their online presence either with e-commerce or improving their website’s SEO (search engine optimization), to build social media, and engage with customers,” said Ricardo-Wodiany.

“It was really a useful grant for businesses to leverage their online presence for those who did take advantage of it.

“I can only speak to what I’ve seen, but businesses that have taken part in it love it and think it’s such a great program.”

Although the grant is closed for this year, Ricardo-Wodiany is available to help businesses with their digital strategy and to meet with businesses one on one virtually or in person.
