CENTRE WELLINGTON  – The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) welcomed approximately 70 community members on June 2 to its annual public meeting, themed “Bringing Change-makers Together,” for an evening celebrating local philanthropy, community leadership and the collective impact of giving in Centre Wellington.

The event showcased three significant community-building initiatives that officials say are currently shaping the future of the community: the Elora Centre for the Arts, Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington’s Fergus build project and the Aboyne Rural Hospice.

Representatives from each organization shared updates and highlighted how community support and philanthropy are helping turn ambitious visions into reality.

The Foundation also announced the recipients of its spring project grants, awarding approximately $18,000 to charitable organizations supporting initiatives focused on youth, the arts, food security and environmental stewardship. The grants build on CWCF’s broader community impact, with nearly $289,000 distributed to charitable causes and community initiatives in 2025.

An important milestone of the evening was the announcement of a leadership transition.

Jean Prichard was introduced as the new chair of the board, succeeding Randall Howard, who served as chair for 16 years and helped guide the foundation through a period of significant growth and community impact.

“I am energized by the opportunities ahead,” Pritchard said.

“I am excited to help lead the Foundation into its next chapter of growth, strengthening our impact, expanding opportunities for local giving and inspiring even greater community generosity in the years ahead.

“Our annual public meeting is an opportunity to celebrate what is possible when people invest in their community .., and we are grateful to everyone who joined us and to the donors, volunteers, charities and community partners who continue to help Centre Wellington thrive.”

The Centre Wellington Community Foundation is a registered charitable organization dedicated to connecting donors with causes that matter and building a lasting legacy of community generosity. Through endowed funds and strategic grantmaking, the foundation supports initiatives that enhance quality of life and build a strong and vibrant future for Centre Wellington.
