Culvert replacement between Brucedale and Rockwood means closure of Wellington Rd. 27 this summer

Replacement of a culvert on Wellington Rd. 27 will shut down a section of the road between here and Rockwood for much of the summer.

On June 15, Wellington County’s roads division construction manager Mark Eby emailed the Wellington Advertiser stating the county has hired a contractor to complete the replacement of a culvert/bridge on Wellington Road 27, between Wellington Road 124 and Guelph-Eramosa Sideroad 10.

The work includes the complete removal of the existing concrete structure, the supply and placement of a new reinforced concrete rigid frame box culvert and concrete retaining walls. Roadway construction will also include granular and ashphalt, steel beam guiderail installation and other miscellaneous work.

The work and road closure will begin on June 22 and it is anticipated work will be completed before school starts.

Two detours will be posted for this closure.

Cars and small trucks (buses and emergency vehicles) will be able to use Eramosa Fourth Line.

Transport trucks and other oversized vehicles will have to use Highway 7 to Wellington Road 29 to Wellington Road 124 to get around the construction site.

Signs have been posted indicating that the road will be closed and to follow the appropriate detour or choose an alternate route.
