Creative Youth Competition returns for Black History Month

ARTHUR – The Wellington County Learning Centre invites youth aged 12 to 18 to participate in its Black History Month Creative Youth Competition.

Each written or media submission should follow one of the following topics:

– your personal experience as a youth of colour;

– how a historical person of colour has inspired you; or

– other stories on local and personal heritage and identity.

The prize for the competition’s first place winner will be a laptop, and the second place prize a $25 bookstore gift card.

The purpose of the competition is to “provide educational resources to youth, encourage youth to practice their educational skills, and raise awareness of people of colour issues,”  officials said.

Youth of all abilities are encouraged to make submissions by the Feb. 21 deadline.

Perfect grammar, spelling or performance is not necessary.
