COVID-19 outbreak over at Riverside Glen

Three new cases of COVID-19 in Wellington County this week

GUELPH – On Aug. 4 Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) officials declared over a COVID-19 outbreak at the Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph.

The outbreak, first declared on July 17, was deemed over at the retirement home portion of the facility on July 30 and then at the nursing home portion on Aug. 4.

An outbreak is defined as one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 within a long-term care home, retirement home or hospital.

An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspect.

New cases

There have been three new cases of COVID-19 identified thus far this week in the WDGPH region.

Two of those cases are in Wellington County, identified on Aug. 4, while a location is not provided for the third (also on Aug. 4).

That brings the total number of cases in the region to 529, including 37 deaths and over 470 resolved cases.

Wellington County has had 89 total cases, including two deaths and at least 79 resolved cases.
