GUELPH – Public health officials have declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Royal Terrace Long-Term and Residential Care facility in Palmerston.
A Dec. 31 update on the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) website states there is one staff case at the home.
The outbreak at the Royal Terrace is one of 11 current outbreaks at facilities in the WDGPH region.
The others are:
- Eden House in Guelph-Eramosa, one staff case, declared on Dec. 27;
- Bethsaida Retirement Community in Orangeville, four residents, declared on Dec. 27;
- Caressant Care Arthur (long-term care), four residents, two staff, declared on Dec. 26;
- Village of Arbour Trails in Guelph, two staff, declared on Dec. 21;
- The Elliott Community (retirement home) in Guelph, one resident and two staff, declared on Dec. 20;
- St. Joseph’s Health Centre (long-term care) in Guelph, one resident and three staff, declared on Dec. 20;
- Avalon Care Centre in Orangeville, two staff cases, declared on Dec. 17;
- Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph, four staff, declared on Dec. 17;
- Wellington Terrace in Aboyne, six staff, declared on Dec. 12; and
- Caressant Care Arthur (retirement home), 16 residents and seven staff, declared on Dec. 12.
An outbreak is defined by public health officials as one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19.
An outbreak is declared over 14 days after symptoms began in the most recent case and when no other cases are suspected.
