- County council has approved the purchase of 200 posters to help educate residents about domestic violence and how to curb it.

Police Services Board chairman Lynda White told council that domestic violence is now the number one crime committed in Wellington County. The posters will cost $1,000.

Councillor Jean Innes wondered if other groups can obtain some of the posters for their use.

White said the posters have already been bought by the Police Services Board. Inspector Scott Smith said the posters have already arrived.

While county council usually approves the minutes and recommendations of the board, the board has its own statutory powers and can proceed without county council approval on its initiatives.
