County to spend $1.7 million on four plow trucks

GUELPH – Wellington County council has authorized a $1.73-million purchase order for four new plow trucks.

On Feb. 29 council approved the purchase of four plow chassis from B&I Complete Truck Centre of Barrie for $787,720 plus HST and four box/rigging assemblies from Viking Cives of Mount Forest for $945,430 plus HST.

A report from roads department staff notes that in 2018 tenders for the supply of plow truck cab/chassis were awarded to B&I Complete Truck Centre and plow box/rigging to Viking-Cives under a fixed contract term to standardize the county fleet.

Staff recommended “that orders are placed to ensure that the units are delivered with sufficient lead time to be operational for the 2025 season,” the report states.
