County organizations receive Trillium grants

Three local organizations received nearly $200,000 of the $4.45 million in grant money allocated to groups in the Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin catchment area for the latest round of Ontario Trillium Foundation Funding.

The Elora Curling Club received the largest grant among county organizations. The group was awarded $126,500 to replace ice-making components at its facility.

“Fostering more active lifestyles, this initiative is helping infrastructure be accessible and available for physical activity, and has an impact on the lives of 1,000 people in the community,” Trillium officials state.

The Eden Mills Writers Festival received $40,000 to restore a historical building for an artistic centre.

“Enriching people’s lives through arts, culture and heritage, this initiative is helping arts, culture and heritage have appropriate spaces, and has an impact on the lives of 35,000 people in the community,” Trillium officials state.

The Minto Mapleton Family Health Team will receive $30,000 to purchase accessible fitness equipment.

“Fostering more active lifestyles, this initiative is helping infrastructure for unstructured and structured physical activities, and has an impact on the lives of 1,663 people in the community,” officials state.
