County museum to reopen July 23; library capacity expanding

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Wellington County Museum and Archives will reopen on July 23 and county libraries are expanding capacity limits.

The moves, announced in a July 19 press release, were made in response to the province entering step three of its COVID-19 reopening plan three days prior.

“We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces back on our grounds and inside our buildings,” said Jana Burns, Wellington Place administrator.

“We have fantastic summer programs and events lined up for residents and visitors of Wellington County to enjoy.”

On July 23, the Museum will resume its regular operating hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm on weekdays and 1 to 5pm on weekends.

The museum is hosting outdoor summer programs and events throughout July and August, including its Summer Concert Series.

Library changes

“Library patrons are welcome to drop-in to use study spaces and browse the physical collection,” officials stated.

Capacity will be limited at libraries to permit physical distancing and all branches will continue curbside pick-up service. Patrons are asked to contact their local branch to make appointments for computer and printer access.

“With expanded capacity limits, we are able to welcome more patrons back to our libraries,” stated chief librarian Rebecca Hine.

“Our curbside pick-up service has been very successful and will continue throughout the summer for patrons who prefer to use the service.”

More information regarding the Library’s in-person services is available at wellington.ca/library.

Officials say all visitors to county buildings must complete an active screening form upon entry and adhere to all public health measures.
