Guelph-Eramosa councillors agree the Erin-Eramosa Townline is in “terrible” shape and they want to address it – but they say nothing can be done without both municipalities having funds set aside for the road.
Guelph-Eramosa council reviewed on Aug. 12 a petition signed by close to 30 residents living on the road that requests the townline be paved between Wellington Roads 50 and 124.
“The road’s degradation has reached a point that endangers all who travel it,” the petition states.
“Grading only lasts between two and 48 hours, making the process futile and an actual waste of taxpayer dollars. A more permanent solution is needed.”
Mayor Chris White said Guelph-Eramosa has had money set aside in recent years for work on the Erin-Eramosa Townline but the Town of Erin did not.
White said the township needs to sit down with Erin representatives again to discuss the road.
Councillor Doug Breen agreed the municipalities need to come up with a coordinated plan for the townline.
“The road is terrible,” said Breen, though he noted the whole length of the townline is in bad shape, and not just the portion identified in the petition.
Council unanimously passed a resolution to forward the petition for discussion with Erin officials (councillor John Scott was absent).
