Coronation Planting of 65 native trees in honour of King Charles III in Drayton

Coronation planting – Alma’s Girl Guides, Sparks, Embers, and Pathfinders joined forces with Trees for Mapleton to plant 65 native trees on the grounds surrounding Conestoga Crest in Drayton on May 6. Bruce Whale and Liz Samis of Trees for Mapleton said the event was dubbed the Coronation Planting in honour of King Charles III. Guide and Ember leader Marlene Skerritt explained it was important to plant all native trees, many of which are going extinct. “We’re trying to reintroduce them to the area,” she said.
