Community Resource Centre to hold Spring Fling vendor market

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Get into the spirit of spring with the Community Resource Centre (CRC) of North and Centre Wellington’s Spring Fling event on April 20.

Held from 10am to 4pm at The GrandWay stables, the event is a vendor market fundraiser and “the funds are going to our outreach programs,” said CRC executive director Alyssandra Kent.

Programs include its backpack and winter wear programs.

“With backpacks last year, we were able to provide 317 backpacks with age-appropriate school supplies to kids throughout Wellington County,” Kent explained.

With its winter wear program, 130 children were provided with full winter gear: new jackets, snow pants and boots. Other CRC programs include: Adopt-A-Family, summer recreation and Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (more information at communityresourcecentre.org).

Looking for vendors

Officials say the Spring Fling event is made possible with the support of local businesses, vendors and service providers. GrandWay stables has over 100 stalls, and the CRC is looking to fill at least 80 of them.

“They can range from small businesses through Etsy, crafters, service providers, and really anyone,” said Kent. “We have about seven or eight signed up already [as of Feb. 21], and quite a few expressed interest.”

The event will have nine stalls reserved for youth entrepreneurs, and nine spots reserved for community agencies. To become a vendor, a minimum donation of $100 to CRC’s outreach programs  is required. Tax receipts will be given with the donation.

There are also spots at the event for three food vendors.

Food trucks and vendors  need to be self-sustainable (provide their own water and electricity) and have their own licenses. Vendors will also receive an item in CRC’s more than  500 swag bags, be listed on event-day materials and pre-event social media posts.

A children’s activity area will be set up and available for those interested, too.

“We operate licensed childcare at our EarlyOn centres, and so we’ll be setting up craft tables, and we’re hoping to get a face painter, balloon artist and inflatables,” Kent explained.

Donations

Admission to the event is by donation, and kids get in for free. Those interested in the Spring Fling market can email info@communityresourcecentre.org. For more information, visit the CRC Facebook page or communityresourcecentre.org.
