Too early to think about summer while the temperatures are low, and the snowdrifts are high? The Guelph Community Foundation is already knee-deep in summer as it opens up the application process for its Kids-to-Camp granting program.
Any registered charity can apply for grant money. In 2015, The Guelph Community Foundation (GCF) granted over $19,000 to thirteen local camps.
“We typically grant between $500 and $3,000 per camp, depending on their needs”, said Susan Brown, chair of the grants committee at The Guelph Community Foundation in a press release. “The Children and Youth Summer Camp Program here at the foundation provides grants (financial support) to organizations operating camps that help children and youth from financially disadvantaged families participate in the summer camp experience.”
This year the deadline for camp applications is earlier than previous years, so applicants are encouraged to get a head start now.
The Guelph Community Foundation is now accepting applications for summer camp grants, and the deadline for submission is Feb. 12 at 4pm.
Organizations interested in applying for grant money should visit the foundation’s website for details and application forms at www.guelphcf.ca or call the office at 519-821-9216.
Since The Guelph Community Foundation began granting in 2001, over $184,000 has been given to help support camp programs and send underprivileged kids to camp in our community.
