Clifford Rotarians helping to distribute excess PPE

CLIFFORD – In mid-March Clifford Rotary Club member  John McVicar learned from a fellow Rotarian in the Grand Bend club that the local school board was looking for “new homes” for surplus PPE supplies such as hand soap and hand sanitizer they had on hand in schools across their district.

“This was an urgent request because some of the sanitizers were expiring at the end of September and some at the end of June,” notes McVicar.

Several Rotary clubs across Perth and Huron Counties as well the Clifford club in Minto took up the challenge to avoid having skids of these products going in the landfill, McVicar explained in an email to the Community News.

The Avon-Maitland District School Board offered the products to charities, non-profits and small businesses and the response has been “outstanding,” says McVicar.

McVicar says there is still more PPE available and any business or community organization wishing to receive soap or sanitizer is requested to contact him at rotaryclubjohn@yahoo.com.

Supplies for Ukraine – The Clifford Rotary club has been helping the Avon-Maitland District School Board find homes for surplus PPE supplies. Bethanne Rumpf, with Rotarian John McVicar, recently picked up three loads of isolation gowns (about 5,000 gowns) for Drayton United Church, which has been collecting supplies to assist the people of war-torn Ukraine.
