In the UN World Cancer Day photo published by the Wellington Advertiser on Feb. 20, Diane Ballantyne was incorrectly identified as a cancer survivor.
In an email Ballantyne explains, “I have had genetic testing for BRCA 1 and 2; my mother died of cancer; and my grandmother had a double mastectomy, but I have never had cancer nor did I make any statement about that at any time.”
She added that Steph Toohill told a very emotional story about two surgeries that missed her breast cancer.
Ballantyne said recently after a third surgery Toohill was declared cancer free.
