Cassandra Chornoboy is the new representative for Guelph-Eramosa, Erin and Puslinch on the Wellington Catholic District School Board.
Chornoboy received a considerable majority of the votes, with 704, over opponent Shaun Redmond who received 432.
Results from individual townships reflect a similar ratio. In Guelph-Eramosa, Chornoboy received 326 ballots, while Redmond claimed 192. Erin delivered 229 votes for Choronoboy and 129 for Redmond and in Puslinch township the tallies were 149 and 111 respectively.
Despite his loss, Redmond said he plans to stay involved with the board through parent council meetings.
“It was good to see lots of voters out making their feelings shown and it was a very interesting experience for me,” Redmond said.
Chornoboy was not available for comment by press time.
