Choir plans Carols for Christmas concert

The Guelph Chamber Choir is presenting an afternoon concert Carols for Christmas, at St. George’s Anglican Church on Nov. 29 at 2:30pm.

“Come sing familiar carols with the Guelph Chamber Choir in one of the city’s finest acoustic spaces,” officials urge.

Between the music making, choir members will present seasonal readings and poetry. Special guests for the afternoon include the Madawaska String Quartet, Sharlene Wallace on Harp and Chris Dawes on the “magnificent” pipe organ of St George’s Anglican Church.

Conductor Gerald Neufeld noted, “Christmas music allows the choir to display the beauty of fine choral music that has captivated audiences for centuries.

Along with favourite carols such as Joy to the World and Carol of the Bells, we present Saint-Saens’ dramatic and beautiful Christmas Oratorio, Berlioz’s touching Shepherds’ Farewell, and Latvian composer Eriks Ešenvalds’ Northern Lights, a magical piece accompanied by tuned wine glasses.”
