The ADHD and Asperger’s Centre has created a unique program for parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or Asperger’s Syndrome.
“If a child isn’t performing, it could be the effects of a deeper need,” said program facilitator and psychotherapist Alina Kislenko.
“Parents tend to use old learning strategies for their kids, which can cause more harm than good with children on the spectrum.”
She added the group was created as a way for parents of children with ADHD or Asperger’s to receive social and professional support.
Part workshop, part support group, Kislenko’s five-week program offers an opportunity to work with a experts and other parents/caregivers of kids of all ages with ADHD and/or Asperger’s. It covers an array of topics based on the questions they need answered.
The sessions take place Wednesday nights until Feb. 22 from 6 to 7:30pm at Park Mall Building in Guelph.
