The annual One-Stop Career, Education and Community Resource Fair is taking place at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph on Nov. 15 from 6 to 8pm.
Over 500 Grade 7 to 12 students, along with their parents and teachers from The Upper Grand and Wellington Catholic district school boards attend to gain helpful insights and information which will assist them as they make important decisions about future education, training and career pathways.
This event is organized on an annual basis by the Career Education Council with the help of a volunteer committee of local representatives from schools and businesses who care about having a positive impact on youth and on the development of a skilled future workforce.
The evening will allow students to:
– meet employers from a broad range of careers that can help students make informed career choices that will lead to meaningful, successful careers;
-be informed when making decisions about training programs, co-op opportunities and volunteering;
– gather the pieces that will eventually fit together as they build their future careers; and receive relevant information about workforce trends, growing sectors and local employers so that youth can gain insights that will help them to make informed decisions about future education and career pathways where they can expect to find opportunities for employment and fulfilling careers.
Students will gain insights from employers, educators and community representatives at over 80 displays that will feature local employers, specific high school programs, apprenticeship opportunities, education, training, co-op, volunteering, employment, careers and much more.
