Canadian Reformed Church of Fergus North opens Sept. 11

The Canadian Reformed Church of Fergus North officially opens its doors this weekend.

Doug Vanderveen said the congregation formed 11 years ago after branching off from Fergus Maranatha on July 11, 2004 due to growth.

Work on this project has happened over a number of years. The property purchase was made with Anchor Association in 2007.

Construction began early in May 2014 with Sheldon Creek Developments as construction manager. Framing and the roof was completed by the end of July 2014 and interior work began. Vanderveen said the congregation was invited to have a sneak peak last September.

In October the parking lot was completed and exterior finishes were started. Vanderveen noted tradespeople from within the congregation, its sister church and members of the local community did a majority of the work.

The first worship was held Dec. 21, 2014. From May to September work was also done to construct a manse for the new minister and family.
