BTogether Talk Series for youth is back

FERGUS – The Youth Action Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington (BBBSCW) is has announced the BTogether Talk Series is back with new sessions and a new website.

There was a session scheduled for Oct. 28 at 4pm and the topic was “B-Ready Managing the Next Stage of COVID-19.”

Every Wednesday at 4pm, youth from Centre Wellington and across Guelph join together virtually to discuss topics that matter now. Topics are broad-ranging and include transitioning to online learning, managing the stress of COVID-19, budgeting and job preparedness, managing grief and recognizing the signs of addiction.

The BTogether Talk Series was born out of the need for youth to be together during the COVID-19 pandemic when physical distancing was essential during the health crisis and social isolation was a result.

BBBSCW Youth Action Committee (YAC) developed the idea of the BTogether Talk Series to bring youth together virtually, to talk about various issues and topics and give youth a platform to be together, share and feel less isolated – for youth, by youth.

Since its inception in the spring, other youth groups have shown support by hosting sessions of the BTogether Talk Series.

The Integrated Youth Services Network (IYSN) has collaborated with BBBSCW and both have enabled this project by finding local expert speakers.

“By participating in the BTogether Talk Series, I have been able to learn about many different topics (relating to mental health), meet different speakers, and get many of my questions answered,” said Abigail Taylor, a long-time member of the YAC, and she invited other youth to participate.

“There are so many fun opportunities that the BHive is putting together and the BTogether Talk Series is definitely something I’ve loved to be a part of.”

Participation is free. To pre-register or for more information, visit www.btogethertalkseries.com.
