Boo Radley Project to host second annual ‘Boospiel’ curling tournament

ELORA – The Boo Radley Project is hosting its second annual “Boospiel” curling tournament on March 16.

The art-rock, indie-funk band from Elora and Guelph is calling curling teams of all abilities to join them for the tournament, dubbed “Boospiel II: St. Paddy’s Eve edition,” at the Elora Curling Club.

“We had so much fun last year, even though Team Boo came in last place” said Leon Obrascovs, the band’s violinist and keyboardist.

“We knew we had to do the Boospiel all over again, this time with a little St. Paddy’s Day twist.”

The event is nearly sold out and the band only has room for a few more teams, which receive:.

– two two-hour games (novice and intermediate draw);

  snacks from Elora’s The Friendly Society;

  a pizza lunch;

  silent auction;

  prizes (new category for 2024: best team costume);

  live concert from The Boo Radley Project;

– instruction session before with pro mother-daughter curling duo Dorothy and Nicole Brockbank; and

– a dance party.

The bar will be open the entire day, and Obrascovs wants to remind participants that “winners buy for the losers.”

Brooms and sliders are available for those who do not own them.

Organizers are also asking participants to bring a donation for the curling club’s junior curling program.
