Arthur Fall Fair celebrating country roots and rubber boots in 2015

There is so much to see and do, so take your time and browse through the online 2015 Fair Book or check out the schedule of events.

This year the Arthur Fall Fair theme is “Country Roots and Rubber Boots”.

If you are looking to pick up a copy of the Arthur Fair book, exhibitor forms and entry tags visit: the Arthur Library, Walsh’s Pharmacy, Arthur 2nd Look or the Chamber of Commerce office.

The fair is paid admission, Friday through to Sunday.

Weekend pass: $10 (adults 13 years and up);  per day admission: adults (13 years and up) $5; children (12 years & under) free.

Arthur’s fair dates back to 1856 and the roots of the Arthur Agricultural Society run deep.

The society’s biggest event of the year continues to be the Arthur Fall Fair, held every year the weekend after Labour Day.

This annual fair is now more than 150 years old and continues to be completely volunteer run.

With a very limited budget, the group of dedicated volunteers are members of the community and surrounding area, as well as people that care deeply about the importance of community, heritage and agriculture.

In addition to the fall fair, the society also participates in various community activities. Some of these include: Art in the Street, Lions Club Duck Race, Groundhog Day Dinner/Family Skate, Entertainment Night and 4-H dinners.

The fair weekend actually kicks off Thursday night with a number of events including the kick-off beef barbecue supper from 5 to 7:30pm.

The event includes the Ambassador Contestants Cake Decorating starting at 5:30pm and the early bird exhibit registration from 7 to 9pm in the arena lobby.

Things get underway Friday night with the parade through town, but there will be a few changes due to reconstruction of Frederick Street and the roundabout at the Eliza/Frederick intersection.

The parade still begins at Arthur Christian (Mennonite) School as floats gather in the parking lot for a 7pm start.

Participants are advised to arrive early as judging begins at 6:30pm.

The fairgrounds open earlier in the day from 9am to 11:30am for the placing of exhibits. Both inside exhibits and 4-H Field Crops must be tagged and placed by 11:30am.

Judging occurs from 1 to 5pm.

The arena hall then opens from 7 to 10pm with the opening of the fair and fair ambassador competition and cake auction starting at 8pm.
