Alleged street racers charged

GUELPH – On Sept. 20 at about 3am Wellington County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on the Hanlon Expressway near Stone Road.

“Witnesses reported that two sports cars were travelling southbound at high rates of speed and appeared to be racing each other when one of the drivers lost control, struck a sign, and entered a ditch,” police stated in a press release. No one was injured in the crash.

Liu Yao, 23, and Zeyuan Li, 25, both of Guelph, were  charged with racing a motor vehicle and are to appear in Guelph court on Dec. 2.

Both vehicles and the drivers’ licences were seized for seven days.
