County council welcomed new county engineer, Don Kudo, to his first official council meeting on Jan. 25.
Kudo began his role as county engineer with the engineering services department on Dec. 4, 2017. He succeeds Gord Ough, who retired from this position after 26 years of service on Sept. 30, 2017.
Kudo is a professional engineer who has worked in the municipal engineering field for over 29 years. He most recently worked as the director of engineering with the Town of Halton Hills and previously held various engineering roles, with both technical and leadership responsibilities, with the City of Guelph.
Kudo attended the University of Waterloo for Civil Engineering, and is a member of various industry associations and works as a course coordinator and instructor for the Ontario Good Roads Association municipal infrastructure training program. In 2017, He was elected to the board of directors for the Ontario Public Works Association and was also selected to be the chair of the Ontario Provincial Standards Environmental Committee.
“On behalf of county council and staff, I would like to welcome Don to the County of Wellington” said Warden Dennis Lever.
“Don brings a great deal of experience to his new role, and we look forward to working closely with him.”
“We are very pleased to have Don join us in Wellington County,” said CAO Scott Wilson.
“Don brings a lot of insight to the table, and possesses both the technical skill set and the management experience needed to succeed in this role. The county’s engineering services department will be in good hands under Don’s leadership.”
