The county of Wellington continues to be considered a safe bet for creditors.
Administration finance and human resources committee chair Chris White advised Wellington County council at its Oct. 26 meeting that the county has maintained its AA+ credit rating in the latest Standard and Poor’s global ratings.
Wellington is “one of the few counties with a credit rating that is that high,” noted White.
Among Ontario counties rated by the prestigious financial market analysts only Oxford County has an equal rating.
Standard and Poor’s has rated the county at AA+ since 2014.
From 2010 to 2013 the county’s credit rating was AA.
