Nine local Lions Clubs have pledged to raise $200,000 in support of the Diabetes and Patient Education program at the new Groves hospital.
The clubs, which have come together under the “Lions for Groves Campaign” banner, are: Ariss and Maryhill, Arthur, Belwood, Elora, Fergus, Grand Valley, Hillsburgh, Marsville and Rockwood Lions Clubs.
Individual clubs will run their own fundraisers to support the campaign, and these will be announced by the clubs themselves.
In addition, the Lions for Groves Campaign will be seeking a substantial matching grant from Lions Clubs International Foundation to help reach the target.
Individual donations towards the Lions for Groves Campaign in excess of $20 will be eligible to receive an appropriate tax receipt from the Groves Hospital Foundation.
“The Lions Clubs participating in this campaign welcome this opportunity to raise the financial support needed to ensure that the new Groves hospital continues to provide comprehensive patient services for one of the most understated health issues of our time,” said Lion Denis Vinette, who heads up the campaign.
