Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph ReStores are helping local residents get into the holiday spirit with an upcoming Give-a-Gift, Get-a-Gift promotion. For one week, people donating goods to the ReStores will receive a discount coupon off their next purchase in the ReStore.
The donation campaign includes drop-off donations, as well as the ReStores’ free pick-up and kitchen tear-out services.
The Give-a-Gift, Get-a-Gift campaign began on Nov. 28 in Guelph and Nov. 29 in Orangeville and Mount Forest. It will run until Dec. 3.
“Our communities have been so supportive of our Habitat mission and donations of goods to the ReStores play a very important part in achieving our mission,” said Nancy Frazer, director of retail operations for Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph. “This promotion is a way of thanking our donors for their kind generosity, while generating much-needed inventory to support our ambitious Cityview Village project.”
Cityview Village is Habitat for Humanity WDG’s 30-unit development project in support of affordable housing for fixed income seniors, low-income families, and individuals with disabilities.
“It is such an exciting time for our affiliate,” Frazer said.
The ReStores are one of the major revenue streams funding Habitat for Humanity WDG’s vision of safe and decent housing for families and seniors. They also provide services that support Habitat’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The stores accept and sell donations of building materials and household items, including hardware, plumbing, lighting, furniture, appliances, electronics, kitchens and more. Donations of unusable electronics and scrap metal, including pop cans, are collected for recycling. Last year, local ReStores diverted 400,000 lbs of metal and electronics – enough to fill 28 garbage trucks – from landfill sites.
Habitat for Humanity WDG is proud of the work they’ve done in the community and for the environment, but there’s more to be done. That’s why they’re offering the Give-a-Gift, Get-a-Gift campaign in support of the Cityview Village 30-unit condominium project. The affiliate is also looking for opportunities to build similar projects within Dufferin and Wellington Counties.
