See happy healthy families in the community in September

Happy Healthy Families is a community project aiming to make Wellington North “the Healthiest Place to Raise a Family.”

The project’s goal is to engage the community across all areas to make healthy living the easier choice, to encourage eating more veggies and fruit, drinking more water instead of sugar sweetened beverages, reduce screen time, increase physical activity and increase sleep time.

On Sept. 16, join in at the 7th Annual Children’s Fair from 10:30am to 1:30pm at the Ontario Early Year’s Centre in Mount Forest.

Various agencies and organizations will be on hand to provide information to families living in Northern Wellington, plus enjoy a free barbecue and plenty of activities, crafts and giveaways for all ‘little visitors.’

On Sept. 17, as part of Doors Open Wellington North, from 10am to 4pm join Happy Healthy Families at Saugeen Fitness and Spa in Mount Forest.

Saugeen Fitness and Spa will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and will share the benefits of physical activity from trained professionals and will give participants the opportunity to try out first hand. Spin the Wheel of Healthy Living, participate in more family activities and enjoy giveaways throughout the day as well. There is even a chance to meet Freggie!

More fun will also be available at the Arthur Library that day.

From Sept. 20 to 24, learn about the Happy Healthy Families initiative at the IPM 2016.

As part of the Township of Wellington North display in the Wellington County Showcase, visitors also get the opportunity to participate in a living mural, learn more about the area’s history and take a photo on a buggy, plus so much more.

The Happy Healthy Families initiative greatly appreciates the commitment from present and future community partners, to help support and promote this initiative.
