The Seniors Centre for Excellence offers programs throughout the month of September for seniors in northern Wellington County.
Mondays
Better Sleep Program on Monday evenings from Sept. 12 to Oct. 17th from 6:30 to 7:30pm at the Claire Stewart Medical Centre.
Over this five week program, you will learn strategies to decrease insomnia and how to relax the body in bed for better sleep. Hear about techniques that will help you prepare your mind and body for a restful night. You will be provided with a sleep diary to monitor your progress.
Tuesdays
Friendship Circle will take place each Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30am at the Mount Forest Pentecostal Church; This coffee group takes place each Tuesday morning in Mount Forest at 259 Fergus Street South. The third Tuesday of the month is a luncheon hosted by the Golden Hearts. A great venue to learn about other community events and health programs available in Mount Forest and surrounding area.
Wednesdays
Walk-a-doodle do on Wednesdays at 10am at the Old Community Centre Track in Mount Forest (weather permitting).

Euchre will be offered on Sept. 16 at 7:30 pm at the Drayton Legion for $5 – everyone is welcome.
Sept. 19
Cooking on a Budget will take place on Sept. 19 from 11:30 to 1:30pm at the Harriston Legion. Join Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team dietitian Jenny Harrison, as she shares easy and nutritious recipes that won’t break the bank. All ingredients required for the recipes are available in your local grocery store. Register by calling 519.638.2110.

What’s Cholesterol? Offered via the Ontario Telemedicine Network on Sept. 26 from 12 to 1:30pm. As the title suggests the workshop offers an introduction to cholesterol, how it is produced and what factors can control it. Led by Minto-Mapleton dietitian, Jenny Harrison, this interactive presentation will answer your cholesterol related questions. Women’s Cancer Support and Learning will take place on Sept. 28 from 1:30 to 3pm at the Claire Stewart Medical Centre. Join the group for a conversation with a representative from the Canadian Breast Cancer Network. Learn about what they do, new initiatives, education events and their advocacy efforts.
