French advisory committee approved

On June 14 the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) held a special board meeting. The following was decided.

New superintendent

The board appointed Glen Regier as the new superintendent of finance, replacing retiring superintendent of finance Janice Wright.

Regier previously served as the manager of budget, ministry reporting and analytical services at the Durham District School Board.

The appointment is effective August 1.

French as a second language advisory committee

Trustees approved a recommendation that the board establish a French as a second language advisory committee (FSLAC) that will provide input regarding the implementation of the UGDSB French as a Second Language Action Plan. The committee will meet four to ten times a year as needed and will provide advice for the development and review of the French immersion application, random selection, wait list and program development process. Staff will bring back to trustees a suggested composition of the FSLAC by the June board meeting.

Secondary principal moves

The only principal transfer that will be impacting a county school is Stephen Gayfer will be leaving College Heights Secondary School and joining Erin District High School.
