Big wins at provincial skills competition

Students from the Upper Grand District School Board had a strong showing at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition, taking home medals and some securing their spots at the national competition.

The competition was held at RIM Park in Waterloo from May 2 to 4 for both elementary and secondary school students.

Centre Wellington District High School

Jade Ritter won gold at the provincial skills competition for workplace health and safety), Dillon Bernier won gold for job interview and Zach Ternan won gold for computer IT). All three students are heading to Moncton on June 3 to participate in the two-day national competition.  

Erin Public School

Couper Smith and Anka Varju won the health and safety challenge at the elementary provincial skills competition.

Minto-Clifford Public School

Julia Gray, Jacob Stark, Daniel Weppler and Parker Cummings won the intermediate lego robotics event.

Wellington Heights SS

Sully Fisher, Alex Gardner, Trent Gimblet and Gord Wilman won a silver medal in the home and team building category.

Alma Public School

Wesley Weber, Kent Kelly, Brodie Skerritt and Jonathon Theissen from Alma Public School won silver at the elementary provincial skills competition for junior lego mechanics.
