Annual conference to connect youth to LGBTQ students and allies

Students from across the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) are invited to connect at a conference that celebrates LGBTQ youth and their allies.

The Rainbow Coalition Conference will be held on May 5 from 9am to 2:30pm at the University of Guelph. It’s free to attend and is open to all UGDSB students in grades 7 through grades 12.

UGDSB started the Rainbow Coalition Conference in 2013. The annual event provides an opportunity for students to connect with other LGBTQ students and allies from across the board.

The conference provides workshops led by professionals, community members and students, focusing on anti-bullying, anti-homophobia and anti-transphobia education.

The Rainbow Coalition Conference also provides information to allies who are interested in starting Gay Straight Alliances (GSAs) at their school.

Students can register online at www.rainbowcoalition.org.
