Public information sessions scheduled for UGDSB French review

The Upper Grand District School Board is holding four public information sessions on the board’s French review.

Core French and French immersion (FI) is offered at the elementary and secondary level in the board and the FI program has experienced significant growth over the last 40 years.

However, it is also facing pressure to manage the sustainability of the program.

A report developed by the board’s French review committee contains recommendations to address a number of issues, including significant pressure accommodating students, multiple boundary reviews and difficulty hiring enough qualified teachers.

The upcoming meetings will provide the public with information on the problems, alternatives and recommendations described in the report prepared by the French review committee.

Feedback forms will be made available at the meetings and online at www.ugdsb.on.ca/frenchreview.

Meetings will be held at four locations across the district:

– Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus on Feb. 24 from 7 to 9pm in the cafetorium;

– Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest on March 3 from 7 to 9pm in the cafetorium;

– Westside Secondary School in Orangeville on March 10 from 7 to 9pm in the cafetorium; and

– Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph on March 30 from 7 to 9pm in the cafetorium.
