It looks like development charges are going up 1.8 per cent in Puslinch in 2016.
Last month, Mayor Dennis Lever said development charges will go up 1.8 per cent as a result of changes to the Construction Price Index.
Township bylaws regarding development charges allow for the charges to be adjusted annually and amended in accordance to changes in the construction price index.
A report from staff noted the index has increased by 1.80% from the third (3rd) quarter of 2014 to the third (3rd) quarter of 2015.
Therefore, Township of Puslinch staff will implement an indexing factor increase of 1.8% effective Jan. 1, 2016..
For residences the charges would move up from $4,817/dwelling unit to $4,904/unit
For non-residential development charges would go up from $2.25/square foot to $2.29/square foot
Development charges are used by many municipalities as a means of partially funding facilities and services directly related to new development.
