Two trees will be planted here on Sept. 23 to celebrate National Tree Day at the Community of Arbour Trails, Condos and Village by the Arboretum.
National Tree Day serves as a celebration for all Canadians to appreciate the benefits trees provide – clean air, wildlife habitat, reducing energy use, beauty, a connection with nature, to name a few.
The celebration will take place from 2 to 4pm at Arbour Trails, where there will be both an outdoor and indoor program.
The outdoor portion of the program includes the ceremonial planting of two sponsored trees in a green area to the east of the gatehouse.
For those who choose to attend the tree planting, there is space to stand, watch and listen.
There is also a convenient viewing area along the walkway and flowerbeds on the north (Stone Road) side of Arbour Trails for everyone including those in wheelchairs.
For those unable to attend the planting the indoor portion will be held at the town hall and adjoining chapel at 2pm, where where the Backstage Boys Band will play.
The program for the remainder of the celebration will commence as soon as the tree planters and viewers assemble in Arbour Trails’ town hall and chapel area.
The program will include special greetings and cultural aspects of poetry, song and instrumental and light refreshments will be served.
In case of inclement weather, all aspects of the event will take place in the town hall and adjacent room.
