Wellington County council approved tenders totaling $715,698 for the upgrade of fire safety systems at 22 social housing sites in Wellington County and Guelph.
The upgrade includes exit signs, emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
At the June 25 meeting, council awarded tenders for portions of the work to the two lowest bidders:
– Motion Electrical Contracting Ltd., of Fergus $213,198; and
– Juno Electric of Guelph $502,500.
Tenders for other social services department projects were also awarded at the meeting, including:
– replacement of a shingle roof and roof top MUA (Make Up Air unit) at a social housing facility at 450 Albert Street in Mount Forest to Wm. Green Roofing Ltd. of Guelph for $169,924; and
– a building addition and elevator installation at 261-263 Speedvale Avenue E., Guelph to TRP Construction, of Burlington, at the tendered amount of $1.4 million.
