Free to Achieve helps students in need

It’s well known that children have greater success when they come to school with the resources they need to learn and with positive experiences outside the classroom.

Free to Achieve is intended to help students achieve that success in both school and in life.

The Upper Grand Learning Foundation established its Free to Achieve fund in 2011 and since that time has used donations to provide children with things like winter coats, boots, running shoes, eye glasses, hearing aids, hot lunch programs, field trips, rentals of musical instruments and programs that are outside school hours.

Free to Achieve funds provide for student needs that are identified by schools in a discreet process.

Identified needs are greater than funds available and the Upper Grand Learning Foundation works to fill the gap.

Since its inception in 1994, the Upper Grand Learning Foundation has operated scholarship and school funds that benefit students in schools of the Upper Grand District School Board.

The Free to Achieve fund was established to support the school board’s neediest students in Guelph and Wellington and Dufferin counties.
