Councils support demonstrated need for aggregate letter

The Town of Erin council passed a resolution at its May 19 meeting to support the municipality of Trent Lakes council resolution to “request that the Ontario government amend the Provincial Policy Statement and the Aggregate Resources Act to require aggregate extraction proponents to demonstrate the need for the particular supply of resource proposed for extraction.”

“Boy do I support that,” Mayor Allan Alls said.

Similarly, the Township of Wellington North council received the same letter from Trent Lakes asking for support. The council moved to support the resolution at its May 25 meeting.
