John Nater, federal Conservative candidate for Perth- Wellington, joined Wellington North residents at an informal coffee hour to chat with supporters, local residents and community leaders in Mount Forest on March 9.
“It’s great to see so many Conservative supporters from the Mount Forest area and beyond,” said Nater during the event.
“The turnout today and the many conversations I’ve had today prove once again how important it is for people to speak with their candidates face to face.”
Nater noted that while much is being made about a possible battle of personalities between federal party leaders in Ottawa, he feels the focus of this campaign will ultimately rest on the candidates’ ability to personally connect with residents.
“As the proud parents of a baby daughter, my wife and I share the challenges facing many families in this riding,” said Nater.
Adding that he is proud of the accomplishments of the Conservative government in guiding Canada through a difficult global economic downturn and the many difficult realities at home and abroad, Nater said the Conservative Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, is committed to real results for Canadian families and the people of Perth-Wellington.
Recent Conservative measures include proposals to expand the popular Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) for all children under the age of 18 and an income splitting tax credit for families with children.
Raised on a farm outside Mitchell, Nater has served as a West Perth councillor as well as an advisor to both federal and provincial parliamentarians since 2003.
He is currently a lecturer in Canadian politics at King’s University College at Western University.
